The MAD Peter Stevens KTM junior Development team travelled to Traralgon deep in Gippsland this weekend for round two of the Gippsland regional championships. With Traralgon being one of the riders favourite tracks on the circuit, the team were very excited to get out on the track and enjoy the loamy dirt and fast flowing track.

Jack Simpson – Open A grade – 1st overall

MAD coaching brand ambassador and Peter Stevens / KTM Australia AORC championship leader Jack Simpson took advantage of an off weekend in his busy off road schedule to make an appearance for the team at Traralgon. Jack rode his MAD PS KTM 350 sxf machine to a dominating overall victory in the open A class with three holeshots and moto wins against a very fast field of riders.

Jack finds competing in one off Motocross races where logistically possible is a great way to keep up his intensity for the off road disciplines he is competing in this season and just in case anyone had questioned if Jack still has sprint speed this was a big statement that he is a very versatile rider competitive in off road, Motocross and Supercross.

Matt Van Slooten – Open A grade – 3rd Overall

MAD’s assistant head coach Matt Van Slooten had a very solid day aboard his KTM 450 sxf machine, finishing the day with a best second place moto score and third overall. Poor starts early in the day led Matt to a change in technique and almost holeshot in the last moto, but a possible MAD 1-2 between Slootz and Simmo early on went away when Matt made a small mistake and lost some positions. His charge back through the pack ensured 3rd overall on the day and great championship points for the defending 2015 Gippsland regional champion.

Micheal Murphy – 85cc B/W A Grade – 3rd Overall

Micheal Murphy continued his great 2016 season form coming into Traralgon and dominated the first two moto’s with convincing wins. Unfortunately in Moto 3 Micheal was involved in a big second corner incident that involved another rider and the pair collided and went off the track. Micheal remounted and finished the moto the best he could however both riders would require medical attention from the incident. Everyone at #teamMAd wishes Jye Anderson all the best and a speedy recovery from a broken wrist and femur.

Riley Findlay – 85cc B/W A Grade – 4rd Overall Traralgon / 2nd overall Ballarat Western Regions

Riley Findlay enjoyed a very positive weekend with 3,5,3 moto scores at Traralgon on Saturday and then road tripping to Ballarat on Sunday for the Western regional pulling a double header. Riley rode to a Moto win and second overall on the day and the team is very excited to see his race day confidence and results progressing as the middle part of the season kicks in.

Josh Brewtser – 125cc A Grade – 5th Overall

Josh continued his consistent form from the Junior state titles at Arrarat last weekend and rode to a day best 4th place moto score battling hard with many factory backed junior riders. Securing 5th overall on the day both Josh and the team are very happy with his build in consistency and we will be looking to further establish this with more speed in the coming rounds.

The MAD Peter Stevens KTM junior development team now heads to Outtrim for round 3 of the Gippsland Regional series in two weeks time on the weekend of May 28th an 29th, followed by our Gippsland regional round five prep camp at Wonthaggi on June 28th / 29th and then to Renmark S.A for the Junior Nationals prep camp on the long weekend of July 1st, 2nd and 3rd.
